Boho Chic-Cropped

Greetings Loves!!

This weekend a couple of ladies and I got together for a ladies night/day in NYC! I absolutely needed this mini getaway. My life has been absolutely insane this summer and I really needed a moment to get away and do something completely mindless. For dinner we visited the Sugar Factory in the Meatpacking district, this was my first time eating here and it was a great time! It was a little on the pricey side but the drinks were really delish. The food was pretty good too. We also walked the High Line, which I never heard of until recently. It was beautiful and quite scenic.

On to what I wore.....So as I get older I have learned to embrace and love all of me, the good and the bad! As women we are always so hard on ourselves, due to several factors( a huge one being the societal norms of what "beauty" is) but I will not get into my thoughts regarding that. All my life I have NEVER been happy with my body, even when I was a size 4 and a size 6! I was always aiming for perfection and quite frankly, it's unrealistic. So, with that being said.....Yes, I placed my size 8( more like a size 10 these days), round frame into a crop top and showed a bit of skin! A bold move for me,  but as I stated, I am learning to love and appreciate the woman I am, inside and out. Do I strive to adopt a healthier lifestyle, of course! But until I get there, I will embrace all stages of the process. :-)  Apologies regarding the photo quality of some of the pics (they were taken with an iphone), as well as the awkward poses...time wasn't on my side in getting a sufficient amount of shots! :-(

Corporate Chic: Black and White Prints

Greetings Loves!

Today's look is all about Black and White Prints. Some may consider black and white to be boring, but as you can see in my look, it doesn't have to be.  I opted to pair a larger print with a more subdued print to keep my look balanced.  I must admit, I am grateful to work in an environment where I am at liberty to get a little funky with my office attire every now and then.

More Mixing Prints

Good Day Loves!!!

Today's look is a continuation of last week's style challenge of Print Mixing. Mixing prints is not a trend for the faint of heart. However, there are definitely ways to keep it subtle if you want to try this trend but not necessarily go all out. The formula is to have a common thread which grounds the look. I typically tend to stick with the same color palette. For example, I'll mix a black and white polka dot skirt with a black and white striped top. The black and white is the common denominator, which pulls the look together. If you're not careful it can come across as busy, tacky, and clownish. My suggestion for those who want to experiment with this trend but still are a little leery; start off with using your accessories, as demonstrated in my last look here! Hope you enjoy today's look and don't be afraid to "Mix it up" a bit! :-)
